Dhanashri is a melodious vocalist who has made her mark in classical, Filmi light as well as devotional genres of music. She has the distinction of being a rank artist of All India Radio in both classical and light music.
Singing career
Dhanashri hails from a family of musicians. She is the second youngest child of Pandit Gangadhar Dev and Manjusha. Dhanashri, an exuberant, young and versatile singer, was born in a musically rich family. Dhanashri got her initial musical guidance from her father Pt. Gangadhar Dev, a popular Harmonium player and Singer. Her elder sister Rajashri, a renowned Hindustani classical vocalist is also her Guru and her best friend and guide. Dhanashri learnt music from his Guru Yashwant Deshpande in early age of training and later on she took a serious training in classical with Pt Dhananjay Joshi. She also took lessons from Pt. Vishwanath Oak and Pt. Nanasaheb Deshpande for light music.
She has a postgraduate degree in music from SRTM University Nanded. She is also scholar in Music Alankar Exam. (Gandharv Mandal ) she has developed into an artist with a large fan base across India and abroad with a very short span.
Dhanashri came into lime light when she won the Award for the Gaurav Maharashtracha Mega Final, the most recognised and respected musical competition programme in India on Etv Channel, at a young age of 28. She was praised whole heartedly by the panel of judges comprising of legends of Indian Music for her versatility and melodious soulful voice.
Awards and Achievements
· “Gaurav Maharashtracha” An Award from Etv Marathi Channel in a reality shows in the year 2013 for being the winner and the most versatile singer in the competition .
· Etv Channel adjudged Dhanashri as 'Outstanding Vocalist' during its reality show in 2013 and awarded Title Gaurav Maharashtracha. She was also gifted a Brand New Mahindra Quanto SUV C8.
